Indigenous Achievement

Indigenous Acheivement

Each year over 2,000 indigenous students study at the U of M, enjoying a community that celebrates Indigenous values, cultures and history.

Our university recognizes and celebrates the qualities inherent in people. We are committed to the success of Canada’s First Nations, Metis and Inuit populations. On our campuses you’ll find a dynamic community of Indigenous students, faculty and staff.

Our Pathways to Indigenous Achievement plan harnesses the power of education and uses it to transform the lives of young people. We make it a priority to support students and communities, build partnerships, share Indigenous knowledge and research, and celebrate First Nations, Metis and Inuit successes.

  • Migizii Agamik – Bald Eagle Lodge provides a central gathering point where students and staff from all cultures and walks of life can meet to study, share their experiences and learn from one another.
  • The U of M offers more academic programs and specialized services geared towards First Nations, Metis and Inuit students than any other university in Manitoba.
  • We are committed to promoting and building a society where Indigenous cultures and customs are reflected and respected in schools, workplaces and public institutions.
