Philanthropy

Business leader, philanthropist and engineering alumnus Stanley Pauley sparked innovation in the University of Manitoba’s electrical engineering laboratories by donating $4 million towards the creation of the Stanley Pauley Centre in the Faculty of Engineering.

At the University of Manitoba it is our place that gives us our creativity and the courage to dream big. But it is our donors who help bring our vision to life.

Our donors know the University of Manitoba shares their vision of a better future. Their philanthropic support has a meaningful impact on the lives of our students and contributes to research that changes our world.

  • Gifts to the University of Manitoba totalled $26 million in 2011-12, including $5.6 million to capital funds, $9.8 million in student support, $7.2 million to faculties, schools and colleges, and $2.3 million to research and teaching chairs.
  • In the same year 54 new awards were established: 28 scholarships, prizes or fellowships, and 26 bursaries. More than $13 million in student awards are provided annually.
  • Our current fundraising priorities include capital initiatives like Project Domino and the Active Living Centre; enhancing the student experience through graduate fellowships, scholarships and bursaries; projects related to research, teaching and education as well as emerging opportunities.

In 2011-12 more than $26 million was raised from alumni, friends, corporations, foundations, staff, students and their parents.
