Research Partnerships

A renowned soil scientist, Dr. Annemieke Farenhorst is the new University of Manitoba NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering, Prairie Region.

Together, we can transform the world.

Collaboration is key among researchers and extends to government, community agencies, industry and other institutions in Manitoba, Canada and the world. We work in teams to find answers and solutions, recognizing the value in partnerships when doing research and developing technology at the highest level.

  • Over the past decade, the university has garnered eight Synergy Awards for Innovation, established by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada to recognize outstanding university-industry collaborations.
  • Smartpark, the university’s research and technology park, creates high-tech clusters, facilitates university-industry research collaborations and innovation, and nurtures an environment and culture that helps to retain highly skilled students and researchers. It’s home to companies in the fields of information and communication technology, engineering and advanced materials, health and biotechnology, and agricultural and nutritional sciences.

Researchers at the University of Manitoba received more than $40 million in funding from the Government of Canada’s Tri-Council Agencies in 2011-12.
