A new series of special one-hour talks began last fall to highlight
innovative research that is being conducted at the university. Introduced
by the Office of the Vice-President (Research), the 1998-99 “On the Edge”
lectures featured eight dynamic researchers from different faculties
speaking at both the Fort Garry and Bannatyne campuses over the lunch hour
and in the evening. The series was designed to appeal to the university
community and to the general public by giving people the opportunity to
hear about a researcher’s work and the chance to ask questions. Admission
to the series was free and the average attendance at each lecture was 60.
