Q. What does a Student Fundraiser do?

 

A. Student Fundraisers work on campus in the University of Manitoba Call Centre. You will be calling U of M alumni (graduates) to provide campus and faculty updates, as well as ask for a monetary donation to our University. You’ll make new friends and develop marketable skills while making a difference for the University!  

 

Q. When are the shifts?

 

A.  Calling shifts are SUNDAYS 2:15pm - 5:30pm, MONDAYS thru THURSDAYS 6:15pm - 9:30pm.  Our shifts are flexible! You never have to work Fridays or Saturdays, and working is optional during the final exam period and Reading Week. Calling shifts are always 3 hours and 15 minutes.  Employees scheduled to work must work the entire calling shift.

 

Q. How often do I have to work?

 

A. All student fundraisers are required to work a minimum of 2 shifts per week (6.5 hours total). Of course, if you’d like to work more often, you can!

 

Q. What are the requirements of the job?

 

  • You must be a current University of Manitoba student AND a full-time student (registered for a minimum of 9 credit hours per term
  • We are looking for individuals who have exceptional communication skills, are personable, can easily engage alumni in conversation, and are enthusiastic about the University of Manitoba
  • A resume is not required, but you may submit one with your application if you wish

 

Q. How do I apply?

 

A. You can apply in-person at the Call Centre (Room 196 Extended Education Complex) during office hours (M-F 8:30am-4:30pm). We have applications ready for you to fill out, and you must sign up for a telephone interview, and pick up an interview package. 

 

Q. If I get hired, will I be trained?

 

A. Yes, successful applicants will be provided training for the position.
