The U of M endowment fund remains strong. As of March 31, 2010, the value of the endowment fund is $301 million, up from $250 million in 2009, and the value of specific trusts is $38 million, up from $32 million in 2009. The partial recovery from the previous year has allowed the fund to maintain a 4.5% spending allocation for 2010-2011.
More than 49 new scholarships and 23 new bursaries were created in 2009/2010. More than $13 million in student awards are dispersed annually.
Along with educating tomorrow’s leaders, the university serves as a catalyst for the provincial economy – generating $1.8 billion annually.
The university holds more than 300 patents covering over 200 valuable platform technologies.
