A Better Place to Create

Taché Hall is undergoing a transformation into a performing and visual arts complex. Through the Taché Arts Project (TAP), the University of Manitoba will see the construction of the Art Research Technology Lab (ART Lab) and the bold redevelopment of facilities for the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music, the School of Art and the Theatre Program's Black Hole Theatre Company.

ART Lab

This state-of-the-art facility encompasses 70,000 square feet of sound stages, workshops, art collection vaults, studio space, digital media labs, an art gallery and photography and print media studios.

Marcel A. Desautels Auditorium and Music Addition

Within the Taché Hall complex, this acoustically superior 500-seat auditorium will give the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music a modern and versatile performance space for everything from solo recitals to fully-staged opera productions.

Redesigned Taché Hall

This renovation will preserve most of the historic structure while creating new space for the music library, rehearsal rooms, artist studios and research. Taché Hall will also host a new theatre for the University of Manitoba's Black Hole Theatre Company.

John Conklin Hall

This new theatre will be built in Taché Hall's historic auditorium and will include a 150-seat proscenium stage, a full workshop, prop shop and costume area. Professional-quality lighting and sound will open new creative possibilities for the Black Hole Theatre Company's productions.
