The University, pursuant to a resolution of the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors of September 10, 1970, permits the use of University facilities for a clinic in which legal services are provided under supervision by students in the Faculty of Law to members of the public and of the University community within the limits of student practice established by the Law Society Act and the Law Society of Manitoba. The clinic, known as the University Law Centre, is housed in Robson Hall. Its services are a constituent of the legal aid system of the Provinces. Students act under the supervision of a director, who is a member of the Bar, and of other attorneys from the Legal Aid Services Society of Manitoba ("Legal Aid Manitoba") and are registered as students on the books of the Law Society of Manitoba under the provisions of Section 48.1 of the Law Society Act. Primary funding for the operation of the clinic has been provided by Legal Aid Manitoba and is currently supplied by annual grant from the Law Foundation of Manitoba.
