The following motions were approved by the Senate at its meeting on October 4, 2006.

THAT the list of candidates recommended for degrees notwithstanding a deficiency be approved.

THAT the list of graduands provided to the University Secretary by the Registrar by approved, subject to the right of Deans and Directors to initiate late changes with the Registrar up to October 6, 2006.

THAT Senate approve and recommend that the Board of Governors approve the proposal of the Faculty of Science to create a new Department of Biological Sciences, through the unification of the Department of Botany, the Department of Zoology, and the Introductory Biology Program.  The change is structural and does not include any academic changes.

THAT Senate approve the report of the Senate Committee on Admissions concerning a proposal from the I.H. Asper School of Business on limited guaranteed admission for its Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) program, effective for the 2007-2008 intake [date June 12, 2006].

THAT Senate approve the report of the Senate Committee on Admissions concerning a proposal from the School of Medical Rehabilitation to make numerous changes to the admission requirements for its Respiratory Therapy program effective for the 2007-2008 intake [dated June 12, 2006].

THAT Senate approve the report of the Senate Committee on Admissions concerning a proposal to allow transfer credit to be considered on a course-by-course basis, for standard level examinations in the International Baccalaureate program, effective for the 2007-2008 intake [date June 12, 2006].

THAT Senate approve the report of the Senate Committee on Admissions concerning a proposal from the Faculty of Pharmacy requiring applicants to submit an adult criminal record check and a child abuse registry check, effective for the 2007-2008 intake [dated August 31, 2006].

THAT Senate approve the report of the Senate Committee on Admissions concerning a proposal from the Faculty of Education to add a number of teachable minors for admission to the Early Years and Middle Years programs, effective for the 2007-2008 intake [dated August 31, 2006].

THAT Senate approve the report of the Senate Committee on Admissions concerning a proposal  from the Faculty of Education to change its admission requirements related to "General Science" as a teachable subject, effective for the 2007-2008 intake [dated August 31, 2006].
