Pride Parade

Volunteers that have registered to walk in the Pride Parade should meet between 9:30 - 10:30 am on Memorial Boulevard. Look for the U of M Pride signs in Memorial Park.

The University of Manitoba will be once again participating in the annual Pride Winnipeg Parade on Sunday, June 3, 2018. We are looking for faculty, staff, students, alumni, friends and family members (including children and pets) to walk with us and help us celebrate. Members of the LGBT2SQ+ community and allies are welcome to participate.

Registrants will:
•    Walk in the parade for free – including U of M groups, associations and societies
•    Receive a t-shirt (first come, first served)
•    Be provided with swag to pass out during the parade
•    Help carry our U of M Pride flag
•    Meet other members of the U of M community

RSVP now to walk in the parade with U of M.

UMQueer is also looking for volunteers to assist at U of M Pride Week events and at the U of M Pride Festival booth. Students who volunteer for 10 hours can add this opportunity to their Co-Curricular Record.

FRIDAY, MAY 18
Transgender Health Panel
Theatre B, Basic Medical Sciences Building, Bannatyne Campus | 12:00 - 1:00 pm
We are honoured to host members of the transgender community, who will be able to speak about their different perspectives of transgender health. The format of this panel will be an interview-style discussion facilitated by Rhea Mossman Sims, a nurse practitioner that practices at Trans Health Klinic. Proudly Gender Inclusive Zumba Party

Active Living Centre, Fort Garry campus | 12:05 – 12:50 pm
No experience necessary! Gender inclusive change spaces and washrooms available. Non-members are required to sign-in at the front desk.

FRIDAY, MAY 25
Proudly Gender Inclusive Zumba Party

Joe Doupe Recreation Centre, 727 McDermot Ave, Bannatyne campus | 1 – 1:50 pm
No experience necessary! Zumba Party will be in the physically accessible main gym. Gender inclusive change spaces and washrooms available. Please notify the front desk when you arrive. Note: there will be flashing lights.

MONDAY, MAY 28
Flag Raising

Steps outside UMSU University Centre, Fort Garry campus | 9:00 am
The official flag-raising ceremony will include remarks by members of the U of M LGBT2SQ+ community and light refreshments. A Pride flag will also be raised on Bannatyne campus and both flags will fly for the duration of Pride.

THURSDAY, MAY 31
Drag Show

Brodie Atrium, Bannatyne campus | 12 – 1 pm
Join us for a high-energy performance featuring entertainers from the Like That program at Sunshine House.

SATURDAY, JUNE 2
Festival at the Forks

The Forks | 12 – 7 pm
U of M will have a booth set up at the Festival at the Forks. Come out and get your free U of M Pride swag!

SUNDAY, JUNE 3
Pride Parade
 
Legislative Building | 11 am
All U of M faculty, staff, students, alumni, friends and family members (including children and pets) are invited to walk in the Pride parade under the U of M banner.
