Outstanding Workplace Initiative Strategy

In many ways the U of M is already an outstanding workplace. Our compensation and benefits packages compare favourably with other organizations. In many areas our people have international recognition for their teaching, research and service. We are currently supporting large scale transformative change in our administrative systems and processes to increase efficiencies and services.

In our 2011 “It’s About Us” Employee Experience Survey, 86 per cent of our survey respondents expressed overall job satisfaction. There were high ratings with regard to their relationships with their colleagues, their sense of contribution, flexible work arrangements, and trust with/support from supervisors. In addition, nearly three-quarters of survey respondents agreed that they would recommend U of M to others and 76 per cent agreed that the U of M is a great place to work.

We will coordinate our ongoing communications about our strengths with a website describing and linking to many positive aspects of our workplace. We will review our non-salary compensation elements to ensure continuing competitiveness and will continue to enhance working conditions.
