Sample Templates for Academic and Support Advertisements
Academic Advertising
Advertising for full-time academic position vacancies (full-time positions with an appointment length of one year or longer) includes: Professors, Associate/Assistant Professors, Deans, Directors or Instructors I/ II holding tenured, probationary, term, contingent or continuing positions. Academic advertising also includes vacancies for Research Associates and Post-doctoral fellowships.
Procedures for Academic Advertising

Academic advertising also includes vacancies for Research Associates and Post-doctoral fellowships.
Departments wishing to advertise vacant academic positions should email the text of their proposed ad and requests for advertising waivers and approvals to: Pam_Trupish@umanitoba.ca.
Requests for advertising approval should be made at least one week prior to deadline dates and allow a minimum of three days prior to publication deadline date for placement. Advertisements should include a start date, closing date, position number, Immigration phrase, and FIPPA statement.
Once advertisements are approved, electronic copies of the advertising approval, completed Advertising and Recruitment Efforts form (located at http://www.umanitoba.ca/admin/human_resources/ )and a final copy of the advertisement should be forwarded to Kathy_Niziol@umanitoba.ca. Human Resources will inform you of the actual placement dates and deadlines.

Support Staff Advertising
External advertising is used for posted full-time support staff position vacancies.
Procedures for Support Staff Advertising
Departments wishing to advertise externally for posted support staff position vacancies should email their request to Kathy_Niziol@umanitoba.ca . The request should include the name of the requested publication, eg. Winnipeg Free Press (Careers or Classified), publication date and any specific details related to the advertisement.
Requests for advertisements in the Winnipeg Free Press Careers section (display ads with logo) must be received in Human Resources by 4:30pm on a Friday in order for the ad to be placed in the Saturday edition of the following week.
Requests for advertisements in the Winnipeg Free Press Classified section (word ads) must be received in Human Resources by 4:30pm on a Tuesday in order for the ad to be placed in the Saturday edition of the same week.
These deadlines are necessary to allow sufficient time for reviewing proofs, making any last minute changes, and booking of space in external publications.
Requests for advertising in other publications such as the Globe & Mail, National Post or publications from rural towns should be submitted at least two working days prior to publication (Monday thru Saturday). Prior to submitting a request for one of these publications, please contact Kathy Niziol, either by telephone or email, for further information on publication dates and deadlines.
