April 2, 2013 - At its March 19, 2013 meeting, the Board of Governors approved the appointment of Dr. James Mulvale as Dean of the Faculty of Social Work, effective July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2018. Dr. Mulvale is currently an Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Regina with a primary scholarly interest in the area of social welfare policy. His teaching expertise spans across social work, sociology, labour studies and social psychology. He contributes significantly to professional associations and organizations and has been an active participant on various policy and governance committees at the departmental, faculty and university levels. Given Dr. Mulvale's demonstrated success as an administrative leader, his collaborative approach, and his teaching and research achievements, the Faculty can look forward to a promising future under his leadership. We extend our congratulations to Dr. Mulvale on his appointment of Dean and look forward to welcoming him to the University of Manitoba. November 22, 2012 - The recipient of the 2012 Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Campbell Outreach Award is Dr. Dean Kriellaars, Associate Professor in Physical Therapy, School of Medical Rehabilitation, Faculty of Medicine. The honour is awarded to a university staff member who demonstrated unquestionable meritorious service in outreach activities.
