Water Pumping Station Announcement

With the help of a $1.5 million investment from the federal and provincial governments through the Canada-Manitoba Infrastructure Programs, the University of Manitoba will be constructing a new pumping station and collection and discharge piping to handle collected storm water during high river levels.  With this new system, storm water will be removed and discharged more efficiently protecting the Fort Garry Campus from flooding and resulting damage. 

Honourable Christine Melnick, Manitoba Minister of Water Stewardship and Ms. Joy Smith, Member of Parliament for Kildonan-St. Paul made the announcement on March 7th, 2008 in the atrium of the Engineering Information Technology Complex. 

Mr. Raymond Simard, Member of Parliament for St. Boniface was also in attendance.
