Tyler MacAfee joined the University of Manitoba in October 2011 as a Government Relations Associate focused on provincial and municipal issues. Tyler is responsible for assisting in the advocacy work of the University and securing non-traditional funding sources for the University's projects and programs. Tyler reports to the Associate Vice-President (External).
Prior to coming on board at the University, Tyler spent 9 years with the Association of Manitoba Municipalities as the Director of Policy and Communications, leading a number of important advocacy initiatives for the organization and working closely with the provincial government on a number of policy and legislative changes.
Tyler holds a Masters Degree in Political Science from Simon Frasier University and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree from the University of Regina.
Tyler lives in Winnipeg and is married with three daughters.
