The Keith Gilmore Foundation
The Keith Gilmore Foundation was initiated in 1987 to provide
scholarship funds to students in post-secondary education.
The Foundation was established in honour of the late Keith
Gilmore, editor and publisher for over 30 years of The Canadian
Hereford Digest, in recognition of his contribution to the
Hereford cattle breed, agricultural journalism and the beef
cattle industry.
There are 3 levels of scholarships – for post-graduate
degree programs, undergraduate degree programs and recognized
diploma programs. The following applies to our graduate students:
“Two $2,500 scholarships are offered to individuals
in a post graduate degree program in agriculture, agricultural
journalism and veterinary medicine at a recognized university,
leading to a career in the field of agriculture.”
There is no citizenship restriction listed, but the scholarships
are intended for students re-enrolling in September. The deadline
for applications is July 1st of each year, and scholarships
are awarded September 1st of each year.
Application forms and general information is available on
the Foundation website www.keithgilmorefoundation.com
and the completed applications and supporting documents are
to be mailed directly to The Keith Gilmore Foundation, 5160
Skyline Way NE , Calgary , AB T2E 6V1 .
Graduate Student Conference Travel Award
The Faculty of Graduate Studies allocates funds to assist
current graduate students with travel costs to present papers/posters
for recognized national or international organizations. Funds
are awarded in competition 3 times a year and any award granted
will be paid to the recipient within one month of attending
the conference. A series of deadlines apply, depending on
the date of the conference travel; there is an application
process to be followed plus proof that a paper/poster has
been accepted. This award also requires both the Advisor's
and the Department's support - please make sure you have received
this. Information and applications from the website of the
