Dr. James Clayton Gilson served the University of Manitoba
for 38 years in various capacities including Head of the Department
of Agricultural Economics, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate
Studies, and Vice-President (Academic). His ability as a teacher
and researcher was recognized in 1981 when he was The University
of Manitoba Distinguished Professor. However, Dr. Gilson's
reputation goes far beyond the University boundaries due to
his exceptional ability to apply his research and scholarship
to assist the agribusiness community.
Upon his retirement, his colleagues, alumni, friends and
family established a fund for the purpose of offering a graduate
