(2) Residence Housing
Students in the exchange program should apply for Residence
housing as early as possible as space is limited; you
do not need to wait until you receive your Acceptance
Letter from the University of Manitoba.
In mid-2009, the Residence Office converted to an online
residence application process. To view and print any of
the forms on the following website, you will need Adobe
Acrobat Reader.
The web address is: http://umanitoba.ca/student/housing/applications.htm
The first link is to Residence ONLINE Application. After
logging on, the website will then lead you through the
various steps of the online application process.
At a later time, you will be contacted by the Residence
Office and given a Room Selection Timeslot to access in
order to select a room. At any time you may contact the
Residence Office to overcome any problems.
The usual and best choice for SLU student exchange residence
accommodation has been the Arthur V. Mauro Residence.
If you are unable to use the online method to
apply to live in residence, you can select, print and
use the form "Alternate Residence Application Form"
from the above website. Fax this form to Judy Powell (1-204-261-7251)
and she will deliver it to the Residence Office.
If you do use the Residence ONLINE Application
process, please email Judy Powell to let her know this
has been done <judy_powell@umanitoba.ca> just so
that we can feel confident that you are in the residence
process.
___________
Exchange students do not pay tuition at the University
of Manitoba, however, on arrival and registration at the
University of Manitoba, the student will expect to pay
student union, etc. fees and also Manitoba International
Students Health Insurance.
The health insurance premium is approximately $450 for
a full year; it is pro-rated and payable at the beginning
of each term. Students who are here for the winter term
pay insurance for the period January to end of August.
However, once they have a confirmed return air ticket,
then on request the unused portion of the premium is refunded.
Manitoba International Students Health Insurance must
be paid even if you already have other insurance.
Following approval of your application for admission
you will be sent a Letter of Acceptance from either Enrolment
Services or the Faculty of Graduate Studies (depending
on the level of courses you will be taking), and you will
also receive from us our information booklet for exchange
students.
Please contact us if you require any more assistance
or information.
