TEACHING
PUBLICATIONS
MILTON BOYD is a Professor and Economist at the University
of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. He is also an Adjunct Professor
in the area of Risk Management and Actuarial Science, in the
Asper School of Business at the University. He holds a Doctorate
Degree from Purdue University (USA) and a Bachelors Degree
from Seattle Pacific University. Some of his research interests
include quantitative finance, risk management, derivatives
(futures and options), portfolio management, quantitative
marketing research, and international business. He has traveled
to over 70 countries for international activities including
teaching, research, and advising, for universities, international
organizations, business, and government. Much of his recent
international work has been in Asia, including China and Japan.
He has written over 150 articles, papers, and reports, for
business, government, academics, and international organizations,
and his articles have also appeared in popular press such
as Technical Analysis of stocks and Commodities, National
Post, Winnipeg Free Press, Calgary Herald, Calgary Sun, Edmonton
Journal, Saskatoon StarPhoenix, Western Producer, Manitoba
Cooperator, Grainews, and many others. He has provided commentary
to the media and has also been quoted in the international
media such as the New York Times newspaper. He taught futures
and options short courses at the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange
(now the ICE Exchange) for a number of years, and has also
taught in other industry courses such as Canadian International
Grains Institute.
His public service interests include improving the operation
and development of markets. He has served in the past as a
contributing editor and columnist for Grainews for number
of years where he has written many articles on commodity markets
and financial markets, and he has also served as a Policy
Advisor for the Frontier Center for Public Policy. He has
received two awards from the University of Manitoba for research
and outreach, and is also a Fellow of Seattle Pacific University.
He enjoys many sports such as tennis, windsurfing, snowboarding,
and golf.
