Dr. Karmin O - Functional Food & Nutraceuticals (CCARM)
Positions available:

  • A Full-time Post-Doctoral Fellow

A full-time post-doctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Karmin O, Professor, Department of Animal Science and Department of Physiology, University of Manitoba, Principal Investigator, St. Boniface Hospital Research Centre. Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. with a strong background in biological science, nutrition or related discipline. A successful candidate will participate in our on-going research projects and will use multidisciplinary approaches to investigate the following functions of nutraceuticals and functional food:
(1) antioxidative stress
(2) anti-inflammation
(3) lipid lowering.
The salary will commensurate with training and research experience. The research work will be mainly carried out in the St. Boniface Hospital Research Center which is well integrated with the University. The candidate is expected to work independently and proactively participate in collaborative research. This fellowship will enable the candidate to develop new approaches to metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease and ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Dr. Denis Krause - Gut Microbiology
Positions available:

  • PhD or MSc - Nutrtitional immunology/microbiology of inflammatory bowel disease using young pigs as a model for humans
  • PhD or MSc - Microbial immune modulation of the ruminant digestive tract during cold stress
  • PhD or MSc - Use of charcoal adjuvants to prevent Escherichia coli infections of the digestive tract of young pigs: microbial and immune responses
  • PhD or MSc - Microbial and immune adaptation in dairy cows during transition to high grain diets under different management regimes
