OVERVIEW

The School of Agriculture coordinates the Diploma in Agriculture program and offers a variety of certificate, non-credit, and professional development programs for the agri-food industry on behalf of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences.

History of the Diploma in Agriculture Program

The Agriculture Diploma program has a long and rich tradition, going back to 1906, as the first program offered by the Manitoba Agricultural College. Since its beginning 101 years ago, the program has changed dramatically, shifting its emphasis from technical training toward a broader education in the scientific principles that underlie modern farm production and agribusiness management practices. The Diploma in Agriculture program remains a program that is well-designed for people who will manage a farm, and provides a sound education for those that will provide business and financial services directly to the agricultural industry.
