The Department of Student Residences offers FREE online ads for a listing period of two months. Normally, rental periods for these Sabbatical Listings would be for no more than one year in length and are intended for visiting faculty, fellows, or senior graduate students. Sabbatical leaves are usually six months or twelve months in length and begin in January or July of each year. Furnished homes are preferred. If you welcome undergraduate students with families, please mention this in your listing. The Residential Tenancies Act states that a landlord can only ask for 1/2 the first month's rent for any kind of deposit (security, pet damage, etc.)

Please send your description (in paragraph format) to um_housing@umanitoba.ca and mark your email as "Sabbatical Listing."  We do not post photos, but we are happy to link to another website with more information.

Advertising for Student Housing:
If you are offering a room with kitchen privileges, room and board, require a roommate, or need to sublet, please visit the websites below to advertise your accommodations. These websites allow homeowners the opportunity to create an account and manage their own listings independently.


Renters: Although the University lists available accommodations, it does not approve, license, or inspect them. Housing arrangements are your responsibility and must be made directly between you and the landlord.

Homeowners: Beware of scams such as a potential renter sending you a cheque in foreign funds for six months rent and then shortly afterward asking you to return the money as they need the funds for their airfare to come to Canada. You later find out that their cheque did not clear, and you are out the money that you returned to the potential renter.
