Move-Out Recycling
During move-out, if you have any household items like those listed below that you would like to have re-used (if in working order) or recycled (if no longer working), please see instructions below.

► STOP and DROP:

During move-out, STOP AND DROP any items like those listed below to have them re-used and/or recycled (if no longer working). All items will be diverted to a variety of on campus locations to benefit other students such as the U of M Waste Prevention Re-shop, the UMSU Foodbank, and the UMSU Freestore.

Please DO NOT put them in the residence garbage rooms or leave them behind in your rooms.

COLLECTION BOX LOCATIONS

  • AVM — Main floor Loading Dock by garbage room
  • MSH — Main floor by mailboxes
  • PHR — Outside laundry room on 2
  • UCR — Lobby

Items Accepted:

  • Clothing, footwear, accessories, sporting equipment
  • Bed linens, comforters, blankets
  • Board games, books, magazines
  • Dishes, dish soap, dish rack
  • Laundry baskets, detergents, hangers, drying racks
  • Home décor— i.e. lamps, pictures, etc.
  • Working or broken electric devices and/or cooking appliances i.e. radios, hairdryers, toasters, etc.
  • Working or broken computers and/or accessories
  • DVDs, CDs, videos, records
  • Non-perishable food items

► Call for a Recycle Pick-Up:

Items for re-use or recycling that CANNOT go into the recycling bins include:

  • Small fridges, etc.

If you any of the above items, don't throw them in the garbage. Just call the Waste Prevention Office for a Re-Shop pick-up.

When you call, please state the item(s) for pick-up and the building and room number (e.g., Small Fridge — Room 399 Arthur Mauro Residence).
Then place the item(s) outside your door in a bag or box labeled RE-SHOP.
