What do I do with cardboard that doesn't fit in my deskside bin?
If you have cardboard that is too large to fit into your deskside bin once it is flattened, then just leave it flattened next to your bin for removal by custodial services.

I'm cleaning out my office and have boxes of files and paper to get rid of. How do I recycle them?
You can label them paper recycling and leave them by your deskside bin for removal by custodial services. Or if your office has an unusual amount of paper waste to send out then a special clean-out recycling bin(s) can be requested on a temporary basis.

Please call 474-9608 or send an email to wpo@umanitoba.ca at least two days prior with the following information: date required, date completed, building and room number, name and contact phone number or email.

The Waste Prevention Office will deliver a grey bin or cart with wheels to the specified location on the date required. Special Request Bins are available depending on stock available on hand and to accommodate the whole campus, we typically limit the number of bins out to two or the number of carts to one.

Once it is full, you can leave it outside of your door for the custodial staff to take away the following morning. You may use the bin multiple times until the date of completion indicated on your request form. If you need it longer than the date originally requested call or email the Waste Prevention Office.

What do I do with shredded paper?
Shredded paper from a small desk side shredding machine can be bagged in a clear bag or put into a box labeled shredded paper for recycling.  If the bags or box is set out by your deskside recycling bin it will be picked up by custodial services the next day.

My deskside or photocopy room paper-recycling bin has not been emptied. What do I do?
Custodial services generally empties deskside paper recycling bins daily. If your bin has been full for a number of days and hasn't been emptied by caretaking services, please call the Custodial Supervisor for your building to arrange pick-up.
