The goal of the University of Manitoba Security Services is to ensure a safe environment in which members of our community can live, study, work, and enjoy life.
The UM Security Services Department works to establish and cultivate a positive presence within the University community and to communicate with individuals, committees, groups, and other off campus associated agencies on crime prevention and security related issues. Our department services the needs of the U of M campus community by providing security services in a professional and proactive manner.
The UM Security Services Department provides safety to students, staff, and visitors of the University community. In addition to being actively involved in the University community, our department has been a proud supporter for many years of the Manitoba Special Olympics and the Manitoba Law Enforcement Torch Run .
Patrol Officers have specific Special Constable Appointments for the University of Manitoba. In addition to providing numerous services to the community, Security Services Patrol Officers have the authority to enforce a variety of University regulations, Federal and Provincial Statutes and Municipal By-Laws.
Security Guards within the department are licenced under the Province of Manitoba Security Guard Act and provide a security response and presence at various locations on both the Fort Garry and Bannatyne Campuses.
The UM Security Services department is available to provide service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
