Qualifications:
A degree from an ALA accredited library program is required. A second degree in a related subject is desired. Previous experience in an academic library and familiarity with reference services and bibliographic instruction is desired. Experience with database and internet searching is desired. Representative Duties: Answers reference queries received at the Elizabeth Dafoe Reference Desk, in person by email or by phone. Presents workshops to students on how to use BISON (the online catalogue) and NETDOC (computerized databases). This is a 6 month part-time sessional position beginning September 3, 2002 and ending March 28, 2003 with seasonal layoff beginning November 30, 2002 and ending on January 5, 2003. *Hours of Work: 13 hours per week. Working schedule to be determined. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Where a student is the successful candidate, the terms and conditions of employment, including remuneration, will be governed by the Teaching Assistant/Marking UM/CUPE 3909 Collective Agreement. Where an UMFA member is the successful candidate, the terms and conditions of employment, including remuneration, will be governed by the UM-UMFA Collective Agreement.
If the posted course is with Distance Education, the successful candidate who is a student will be a "Distance Education Instructor".
