Puzzle Party and Pack of Puzzles contain a wide and interesting variety of puzzles. The former has seven crossword puzzles; the latter has twelve. In Puzzle Party, the eight codes include inventions, composers, world cities, countries, and sports heroes. It is a good test of general knowledge. In addition to the similar topics, Pack of Puzzles has movie monsters and comic book personalities. They are rather difficult and would require a high level of concentration and perseverance.

Puzzle Party has word finds in which the words read front-wards, backwards, horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Letters can appear in more than one word. There are also wagon wheels; words are made from the letters on the wheels. Further word puzzles include unscrambling, common letters, and small words in larger words. Mazes add variety.

In Pack of Puzzles hidden words are included. A hidden word is in each sentence with the clue in the title. In the puzzle Turnabouts, words spelled front-wards answer the first clue and spelled backwards answer the second clue. In addition, there are anagrams, box words, centre line puzzles, and number codes.

Examples and explanations are adequate. Answers are included. As well as giving pleasure, the puzzles develop word skills. However, because of the nature of the books, they are personal, not library purchases.
