Glickman's second collection (Complicity* came out In 1983) contains about three dozen poems. The first section, "Various Journeys," ranges through blind dates, youthful travels in exotic places, and city life:

bank towers shimmer like Aztec
vestal secretaries bare their throats
to the gods of Bay and King.

Thee love poems in the second section,"Ignorance and Bliss," give the feeling rather than the sex
manual stuff:

Cat's tongue of desire rasps
the back of my neck:
your eyes on mine.

"A Familiar Story" will bring a rueful grin to anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding:

Preparations go forward, maps are
drawn up,
the armies march by night. . .
He, on the
other hand, goes about his
business, un-
disturbed by all the static. . .Assorted
mothers keep calling long-distance.

Teenagers who write poetry and those who read itóand even some who don'tówill find The Power to Move lives up to its title. Teachers will find great things for class discussion. "Safe Arrival at the Desired Country," Two Cats" and "The Blessing of the Animals" would work even with junior high school students. All public libraries will want to have a copy or two.
