Quizzing Canada is a collection of trivia questions about various aspects of Canadian life--art, history, geography, sports, etc. Each of the ten sections is loosely based on statutory and non-statutory holidays and includes some non-Canadian questions. There are some multiple-choice questions, some fill In the blanks, some matching of photographs to places and people. Each section contains a background history to the holiday concerned.

The purpose of this book, according to the introduction, is to provide entertainment. I think the author has achieved her objective for adult readers, but teens might find it frustrating and too difficult. As is the case with many trivia books, the book puts the questions first and the answers at the back. This is a little bit awkward to work with, but it is not a major drawback. The type is very clear and easy to read, and the illustrations are appropriate.

Sandra Martin is a Toronto based writer/broadcaster who is a book columnist for the Toronto Globe and Mail, editor for Quill & Quire and Books in Canada, and joint author of Where Were You? Memorable Events of the Twentieth Century." The idea for Quizzing Canada came from quizzes which the author prepared for the holiday issues of the Globe and Matt.

I feel that this book was well researched and is a challenge to the adult reader. It is very similar in content and format to Colombo's Canadiana Quiz Book.** Only the questions are different.
