Christopher's Dream Car is the fourth illustrated children's book by Andreas Greve. It is the story of a boy, Christopher, and his imaginary travels in his dream car. Christopher likes cars and he likes travelling. It is when he leaves the city, where he lives, for summer vacation in the country with his grandparents and their cat that he embarks on his travels in his imaginary car.

Andreas Greve conveys very well the sense of wonder and excitement that things like cars instill in children and the kinds of imaginary journeys that result from those senses. The journey that Christopher takes in his dream car is one full of foreign places, friendship and adventure. As in an imaginary trip, one loses all sense of time as one travels with Christopher.

The illustrations are in water-colour. There is a certain impressionistic quality about them which is evocative of a dream state, the slate in which Christopher goes on his travels.

The story flows easily and one does get the sense that real time is suspended while the journey takes place, only to be returned to at the end of the day. The print in the book is large and easily readable. I would highly recommend this book to children in grades 4 to 6.
