The series "Roman Plus" from Les editions la courte echelle is now well established as a source of good young adult novels set in contemporary Quebec. This short novel, like others recently published in the series, depends for its appeal to young adults on a familiar background - high school or cegep - with a cast of believable characters - often boys in a state of adolescent anxiety - and the constant use of language typical of Quebeckers today. The plot, however, is somewhat thin in this example, involving a lost or stolen dog, but the writer keeps us guessing just long enough to get to the happy ending.

The most likely reader of this story is the less sophisticated French Immersion student in grades 7 to 9 who may not be ready for a literary text, but who can read 150 pages for pleasure.
