This teacher resource guide is a supple­ment to Chronicles of Pride: A Journey of Discovery, which consists of portraits of thirty-one contemporary native Canadians. The aim of this guide is to provide educators with the means of conveying the spirituality and dignity of First Nations people and thereby encourage greater understanding of same. It is chock full of activities and resource materials about traditional ways and contemporary issues.

The guide is divided into eight sections. The first section is composed of introductory study activities and sample lesson plans for both elementary and secondary students. These plans are very detailed and provide excellent suggestions on how to use this resource guide most effectively.

The next five sections are devoted to specific subject areas: visual and per-forming arts; education; people helping people; native rights, politics and law; and keeping traditions alive. Teachers are going to be grateful for this guide.

The last two sections provide the reader with additional study activities and addi­tional resources. There are print materials as well as films, videos and music recordings. Information is included on such diverse topics as food, medicine and artifacts. There is a list of available native periodicals and maps showing the locations of the various tribes.

This research guide will be a useful addition to either an elementary or a secondary school library. It is recommended that it be purchased along with Chronicles of Pride: A Journey of Discovery.
