With Wally Stutzgummer, Super Bad Dude, young adult readers have a new Martyn Godfrey adventure to savour. This, the fourth in the "Teeny Wonderful" series, pushes Wally to the forefront in a fastmoving tale complete with comic book heroes, a bicycle race challenge, and a tentative romance.

Wally Stutzgummer and Carol Weatherspoon have been established in previous titles as friends and partners in the Teeny Wonderful trials and projects. Wally jeopardizes this friendship when he accepts a bet with a long-time enemy, Krazy Kurt, to compete in a mountain bike race. Unbeknownst to Carol, the reward is a dinner out with her.

As an employee at the local comic and video store, Wally sees an opportunity to upgrade his bike with a temporary trade-in on his brother's comic book collection. Wally is caught out by his employer, loses the race, and then has to deal with the theft from the store of a rare comic book edition. Dressed in the promotional costume of Super Bad Dude, Wally charges ahead to vanquish his foes within and without.

Godfrey has written an appealing novel that touches base with realistic young adults, their language, their interests and their anxieties.
