Gemma B. Publications, founded in 1992, is dedicated to providing fictional role models for children with disabilities. The publisher's aim is to portray children's strengths and abilities.

Nobody Knows! is a fictional account of six-year-old Ann's adventures as she sets off into a world that expects her to talk. The book is written in the first person to allow the heroine to speak directly to the reader and to speak for other children in a similar position. It is the second adventure for Ann, following Can't You Be Still? (Gemma B. Publishing, 1992). Ann is a young girl whose cerebral palsy prevents her from walking and talking but does not prevent her from feeling frustrated, curious and excited, like any other child her age.

Artist Darlene Toews has won numerous awards for her witty and sensitive illustrations. She depicts Ann's disability with accuracy, empathy and humour.

Yates has provided an excellent heroine for youngsters with cerebral palsy, but this delightful book works on its own merits, too. Any child could enjoy this story. This reviewer's six-year-old son cheered with glee when Ann finally talked out loud on the last page.

Most highly recommended. I feel this book is a must for public libraries, school libraries and Primary reading collections.
