Financial Services Continues Roll out of EPIC (eProcurement)

Financial Services announced the launch of EPIC (Electronic Procurement Information Centre) to a pilot group on October 9th, 2012.   
The roll out of the University of Manitoba’s new eProcurement tool is still underway, with completion scheduled for June 2013.

EPIC was purchased from Ariba, Inc, which is considered to be the global leader in eProcurement solutions. As a diverse educational institution, it was important to ensure that the chosen solution would empower our community and produce the desired benefits.


EPIC is transforming the purchasing process on campus by giving University of Manitoba employees the ability to make most purchases in a single, easy-to-use online tool.

Some key features of EPIC:

One method of purchasing - make all purchases online in one tool

 Automated commitment of funds - as soon as an order is placed,
funds are automatically committed in BANNER

Electronic approvals - no more trying to get someone to sign that
piece of paper.  It’s all done electronically, even with a smart phone!
Order Tracking- track the status of your order from point of entry
to payment to receipt      
 New Reports are available to improve budget & expenditure
administration
FOP validation is automated - fewer journal entries to correct
FOP errors
Availability of spend data in EPIC allows Purchasing Services
to negotiate better savings with suppliers and ultimately reduce costs
Paperless processing – promotes sustainability

The University of Manitoba is among the first Canadian universities to launch electronic procurement, putting it at the leading edge of this trend.
