The Kansas bust chase of June 4, 2005

What happened

On June 4, 2005, the U of M Weather Central webmaster was in south-central Kansas on a storm chase. The SPC issued a high risk of severe thunderstorms for that day, and they were concerned about long-lived violent tornadoes.
As it turned out, the webmaster busted. The surface winds didn't back enough, and any storms that formed quickly became linear or sheared out. Tornadic storms did, however, form to his northeast--the winds backed there.
