Course with attributes of “Written English” and “Mathematics” have been designated in this Guide with a “W” or “M” in the course schedules.

Repeating a Course

You are permitted one repeat of a course or its equivalent. In the event that a course is repeated, or an equivalent course taken, the last grade achieved is the one that will count in your grade point average. If you are repeating a course, you’ll have to contact your? Faculty/School office, prior to registering to request permission to repeat the course.

Prerequisites and Corequisites

Course descriptions indicate what prerequisites or corequisites must be met in order to enrol in that course.

Where a course description identifies another course as a prerequisite it means that you must first complete the prerequisite course. Aurora Student will let you register in courses requiring prerequisites even though you grades from the prerequisite courses are not known; for example, you can register for second term courses which have first term prerequisite requirements. If a prerequisite is not successfully complete, you are responsible for withdrawing from any course or courses requiring that prerequisite, and for any fees owing.

Where a course description identifies another course as a corequisite it means that you must enrol in both courses at the same time if you have not already completed the corequisite course previously.

Late registration

The late registration period becomes effective the date the term commences. Consult the Distance and Online Education Timetable to determine the dates. If you register late, it is essential that you order your textbooks immediately after you register, rather than wait for the course package (see Book Store).

Students who register during the late registration period are required to adhere to the assignment due dates. If you determine, upon receiving the course package, that you need an extension, contact your instructor immediately in case your request is denied.

Degree requirements

It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet program/degree requirements, as outlined in the Undergraduate Calendar. You should note that some faculties/schools may limit the number of Distance and Online Education courses that may be taken for credit toward a degree.

If you have specific questions about degree requirements, a student advisor in your faculty/school will be able to assist you.

Faculty of Arts: no limit; a degree may be earned entirely through Distance and Online Education.

Faculty of Education: no limit; however, not all B.Ed. degree requirements can be completed through Distance and Online Education.

Students in other faculties/schools should consult their student advisors.

Declaring or modifying your Major or Minor

he Faculty of Arts requires that students who have completed (or registered for) 60 credit hours of a General Degree program, declare both a Major and a Minor field of study. Aurora student will prompt for the declaration of a Major and Minor and will not permit further registrations until both have been declared. If you do not intend to complete a B.A. General degree (i.e., if you plan to transfer to another faculty) you must still make a Major and Minor declaration.

If you have previously declared a Major and a Minor Aurora student will confirm this information, and no further action will be necessary.

For listings of faculty/school, department and/or subject codes, please refer to the Undergraduate Calendar.
