2014 Course Offerings

The website is currently being updated with new information regarding the
School of Agriculture Arborist Certification Course for January 2014.

The course and course materials are being revised.

For January 2014, the following courses will be offered:

• In-class at the University of Manitoba, Fort Garry Campus,

on Monday evenings for 12 weeks.

 

• Web-based Distance Delivery (using Desire2Learn)

 

• Text-based Distance Delivery (Independent study)

The study materials include the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Arborist Certification Study Guide (2010 edition) and a University of Manitoba Supplemental Study Guide which together cover the following topics:

    Tree Biology
    Plant Classification and Nomenclature
    Soil Science
    Water and Nutrition
    Tree Selection and Installation
    Pruning
    Plant Health Care and Urban Forestry
    Risk Management and Support Systems
    Trees and Construction
    Tree Worker Safety
    Plant Disorders and Diagnosis
    Plant Identification
