Graduate Programs

The Department of Soil Science welcomes applications for graduate study (M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs) on a diverse range of topics. We provide stipend funding and also encourage students with scholarships to apply. Our graduates have been very successful in their careers and are readily employed.

If you are interested in pursuing graduate studies in the Department of Soil Science, please follow the following procedure:

  1. Search our website for current graduate student opportunities, or identify a professor who is working in an area of your interest.
  2. Contact the professor directly through email or phone to discuss the possibility of joining our graduate program.  Please provide them with your Curriculum Vitae, copies of your transcripts and a statement of research interests.  They may also wish to speak with your referees.
  3. If the professor indicates that they are willing to take you as a student and you have secured two years of stipend funding (either from a scholarship or from the professor's research grants), apply formally through the Faculty of Graduate Studies.  Please keep the professor informed, especially regarding possible start dates, visa requirements, or any logistical issues.
