International Service Learning

Service learning is about working for the benefits of others and learning for one's own development at the same time.  The benefits for the student are many.  By engaging in communities outside Canada, participants learn to live and work within different physical environments and life perspectives.  They also gain hands-on experience and knowledge applicable to their studies and future careers.  In doing so, they develop essential skills such as creativity, that enables them to become more competitive and sucessful as professionals.  Positions are unpaid.  However, sometimes, subsidies to offset costs are available.  Opportunities for off-shore service learning are through the Office of Student Life and the International Centre for Students.
