Intergenerational Succession Planning Workshop

Facilitating the workshop will be Mr. Terry Betker, President and CEO of Backswath Management Inc.  Backswath Management Inc. is a company that provides management expertise to farmers, primarily on strategic business and succession planning, and financial and managerial performance analysis. Recognized for his work at Meyers Norris Penny, Terry was a partner and director of practice development in agriculture for over 12 years. Terry was successful in strategically positioning MNP in agriculture at the farm, industry and government level in Canada.

A popular speaker on management issues, Terry has delivered presentations to agriculture organizations throughout Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Chile, New Zealand and Poland. He is a sessional instructor at the University of Manitoba and serves on many national and provincial committees. Terry has completed the executive program for agricultural producers at Texas A&M University. His credentials include certification in /mediation theory and strategic planning, and a science degree in agriculture from the University of Manitoba.


About the Workshop:

  • includes instruction and material on important parts of succession planning
  • includes ‘real farm’ examples as part of the instructional material
  • provides a process that farm families can apply to their succession plan development and implementation
  • provides opportunities for students and parents to apply succession planning principles to their own farm and family situations.  
  • is designed to promote active communication and related family discussions relating to succession planning issues.



Workshop Cost:

  • $500 per family or group (maximum number per group is 4)
