Opportunities

The University of Manitoba has an amazing number of international agreements that allow student exchanges and travel.  Search this database under Student Exchanges, Agricultural and Food Sciences to see a wide range of opportunities in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America.

The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences also has some special opportunities for our students.  Most of these institutions offer courses in English, and you can take several courses during a full term away.

You can also shop around the world for opportunities in your area of interest.  The Office of Student Life and the International Centre for Students can help you out.

In addition, there are  short-term travel study courses offered by a variety of institutions.  For example:

ISARA Lyon, France has a 4-week Summer School in Agroecology (June or July).  One of our students reported that this was a great way to see European agriculture, learn about sustainable agriculture, meet students from other countries, and improve their French (French classes are part of the course).

The University of British Columbia offers a short course on International Field Studies in Sustainable Agriculture (typically in May).  Some of our students have travelled to Cuba for this course.

If you are interested in any of the above opportunities, see your Program Advisor to find out how this will fit into your program.  Remember, in order to receive credits for courses taken elsewhere, you need to obtain a letter of permission from the Student Advisor.
