Building Energy Management Manitoba (BEMM) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy technologies in commercial, institutional and industrial buildings in Manitoba. BEMM wishes to promote student interest in energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies and design, and to encourage more focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy issues in the undergraduate studies of Architecture and Engineering at the University of Manitoba. This award will be alternated each year between the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Architecture.
The engineering scholarship will be offered to an undergraduate student who:
• has completed at least 71 credit hours in any Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree program
• in the next ensuing academic session, is enrolled as a full-time student (minimum of 24 credit hours) in the Faculty of Engineering
• has achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.0
• has demonstrated interest in energy efficiency and renewable energy through enrolment in, or completion of relevant courses and/or previous work experience as outlined in the candidate’s scholarship application
The architecture scholarship will be offered to an undergraduate student who:
• has successfully completed the third year of the Bachelor of Environmental Design program (any Option) in the Faculty of Architecture
• in the next ensuing academic session, is enrolled as a full-time student in the fourth year of the Environmental Design (any Option) program
• has achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.0
• has demonstrated interest in energy efficiency and renewable energy as demonstrated in studio presentation
The selection committee in Architecture will be named by the Dean of that Faculty and in Engineering will be the Scholarships, Bursaries, and Awards Committee. The selection committees will include the Chair of the BEMM Scholarship Committee and one other BEMM designate.
