George Cibinel of Cibinel Architects Ltd. has established an endowment fund at the University of Manitoba, with an initial gift in 2009. The fund will be used to offer scholarships to recognize students who demonstrate passion for design, professional promise, and clarity of purpose.

The available annual income from the fund will be used to offer one scholarship, in the fall term, to a graduate student who:

• has completed the first year of the Master of Architecture program

• in the next ensuing academic session, is enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, in the second year of the program

• has demonstrated creativity in design
