Tom Carter (Professor of Geography, University of Winnipeg) holds the Canada Research Chair in Urban Change and Adaptation. His interests include housing policy, housing and community planning, inner-city decline and revitalisation, poverty and social policy, population issues and demographic change, third world urbanisation and development, and globalisation.
Alan Clayton
B.Sc.(C.E.), M.Sc (Saskatchewan), P.Eng.
Professor Clayton is with the Department of Civil and Geological Engineering. He is a transportation specialist and involved in continuing research in Manitoba and internationally.

President of URBANEDGE consulting inc. Former Senior Consultant in the Chief Administrative Officer's Secretariat at the City of Winnipeg. Gerry specializes in the areas of municipal governance, long range policy planning, performance measurement, corporate planning, and urban design.
Peter Diamant

Peter Diamant is the Chair of the Manitoba Municipal Board. He is a former Deputy Minister of Urban Affairs and a former Winnipeg Councillor. His research interests include urban finance, municipal governance and the relationship between government structures and planning. As Deputy Minister, he was involved in the development and implementation of major inner city projects such as the Core Area Initative, North Portage Development Corporation and the Forks.

Chris Leo (Professor of Political Science, University of Winnipeg) is concerned with the politics of urban planning, inner-city decay, planning for slow growth, planning and the internet, community development, and housing.

- B.A. (Hons.) M.C.P. (Manitoba) David teaches the Department's Urban Development course. He has practiced research, policy analysis, policy negotiation, and housing market analysis with the Urban Development Institute, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the Institute of Urban Studies, and the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg. He is currently an Associate with PRA Inc., a Winnipeg-based consulting firm.
Linda McFadyen

Linda is Deputy Minister Intergovernmental Affairs. From October '05 Linda was Chief Executive Officer for the Manitoba Housing and Renewal Corporation. Previously she was Assistant Deputy Minister, Community and Land Use Planning with Manitoba Intergovernmental Affairs, responsible for the development and administration of land use planning policies and legislation. Linda has been with the Manitoba Government for 12 years, beginning with Manitoba Housing in 1993. Since then she has worked with the Provincial Treasury Board Secretariat, and done a second stint with Manitoba Housing, before joining Intergovernmental Affairs as Acting Assistant Deputy Minister of Urban Strategic Initiatives in 2001. Linda holds a Masters in City Planning from the University of Manitoba (1994) and a Bachelor of Human Ecology (1990). She is the immediate Past President for the Manitoba Professional Planners Institute and currently is Manitoba’s representative to the Canadian Institute of Planners’ National Council. She is a member of the College of Fellows of CIP.
Robert Nichol
B. Commerce (Manitoba), M.C.P. (Manitoba), M.C.I.P. Robert is Manager, Neighbourhood Integrated Support Services, Community Services Department, City of Winnipeg. Robert has background in urban finance, and urban economic development; experience and expertise in business planning relating to the public and private sectors; ability to bring entrepreneurial approaches to civic government service delivery. Robert has had various roles with the City of Winnipeg as Manager, Assiniboine Park Enterprise, Community Services Department; Manager, Cultural Amenities and Services Division, Community Services Department; Manager, Community Planning Division, Community Services Department; Co-ordinator, District Planning, Environmental Planning Department. He was President, Manitoba Professional Planners Institute, 1997-1999.

- M.C.P. (Manitoba) James is a planner with the Government of Manitoba Community Planning Services division. Prior to working in the public sector, James spent 10 years as a Planner and GIS Applications Developer with consulting firms in Winnipeg, Ottawa and Toronto.

Liz has worked with Centre Venture Development Corporation and formerly as Community Planner, City of Winnipeg and private consultan for planning, feasibility reviews and advocacy. She is Manager of Patient Safety, Quality & Risk at the Health Sciences Centre.
