His 2017 stint as C.A.S.T. Visiting Researcher was among the most productive periods in Emanuel’s thinking life. He built structures unprecedented in the history of building, showing that out our pedagogical models of compressive structures in  particular need revising. In this talk he describes how his CAST ideas have developed over the last couple of years, and where they seem to be leading.
