Dean’s Biography

Jeffery Taylor began his term as Dean of the Faculty of Arts on 1 September 2011.  He came to the University of Manitoba after twenty years at Athabasca University in Alberta.  During his time at Athabasca University, Dr. Taylor served as Coordinator of the Labour Studies program, Chair of the Centre for Work and Community Studies, and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in addition to various positions, including President, with the Athabasca University Faculty Association.

 Dr. Taylor is an historian specializing in Canadian labour history.  He is the author of two books and numerous articles in Canadian labour history and Canadian history more generally.  He also has an interest in internet-based learning and has published a number of articles on the use of online technologies in workplace education and training.  His current research interests include the origins and development of workplace grievance and arbitration systems in Canada and the application and use of internet-based learning technologies in higher education.
