The Master's Program in Canadian Studies and Native Studies at Trent University
The Frost Centre for Canadian Studies and Native Studies at Trent University provides a unique opportunity to undertake an interdisciplinary graduate degree in an intimate and focused setting. Situated in historic Kerr House on the edge of downtown Peterborough, the Frost Centre offers an M.A. program focusing on the following thematic areas:
- Aboriginal Peoples in Canada
- Canadian cultural heritage, literature, theory and the arts
- Environmental politics, policy and natural heritage
- Political economy, labour and community development
- Women and gender in Canada
- Identities and difference in Canada (includes the study of 'race', ethnicity, multiculturalism, sexual difference, disabilities, as well as region and place)
- Canada in the global context

Doctoral Program in Canadian StudiesThe School of Canadian Studies at Carleton University and the Frost Centre for Canadian Studies and Native Studies at Trent University have combined to offer a unique doctoral program - the first of its kind in Canada. At the heart of the program lies the idea of moving beyond the confines of a single discipline and developing research areas that incorporate a variety of analytical approaches. Five interdisciplinary fields provide the framework for innovative research:
- Culture, Literature, and the Arts
- Environment and Heritage
- Policy, Economy, and Society
- Identities
- Women's Studies
