Program Information
This Faculty of Arts inter-disciplinary program will bring to life Canadian history, economics, literature and politics as well as a range of other subjects. It will expose you to Canadian social and cultural traditions through the discussion of ideas and issues that are rooted in the past and relevant today.
For instance, Canadian Studies courses in Sociology examine ethnicity, poverty, and inequality. History courses explore Canada's colonial past so that you can make sense of twentieth-century Québec nationalism, multiculturalism and regionalism. Courses in Anthropology, as well as Icelandic and Native Studies, add important dimensions to understanding Canada. The arts are not neglected in this program which features courses in Art and Theatre. In short,
Canadian Studies will offer you a multi-dimensional learning experience in the study of your own country.
