Program Options

Honours Program: For entry into the Honours Program, students must have successfully completed one full-course equivalent (i.e. 6 credit hours) in each of four different subject fields with a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 on all courses acceptable for credit in the Faculty of Arts. In addition, students must have a Grade Point Average of 3.0 or better in the courses that contribute to Canadian Studies.

Major and Minor Programs: For entry into a Major or a Minor Program, the prerequisite is a grade of C or better in a full course (or equivalent) offered by one of the departments represented in the list of approved courses in Canadian Studies.

St. Boniface Internet Masters Degree in Canadian Studies:
This Internet Masters Degree program in Canadian Studies is offered in French and is fully accredited by the University of Manitoba. Some of the leading specialists in Canadian Studies from Canada and abroad are involved in the program. Students are only a click away from communicating with academic staff and other students in the program whether they are in the city of Winnipeg or at a considerable distance.

Prerequisites: students must hold an undergraduate degree (four years) from a recognised university and they should be able to read and understand both French and English.

Canadian Studies students are encouraged to have a reading knowledge of French, if at all possible; although it is not a requirement of the program. Students are advised to consult the respective department's entries in the U of M General Calendar for specific information on prerequisites and restrictions on courses.
